40 Days of Prayer - Sam Roberson
I love worship in the PCUSA
……not being very sappy and not fond of sweet Jesus songs
My heart pulsates to the traditions and options of our clan….
…the bag pipes in a few of our churches take you directly to Scottish heaven…
Happen into others and the brogue with all its charm is replaced by multiple languages
beautiful rhythms, tonal inflections, angel-voiced Koreans, strange to the Western
ear, yet clearly….languages of God.
Have a few hours to give glory and praise to our God
check out an African-American anniversary or installation
Want to eat your way toward an inevitable Sunday afternoon nap
Drop by a rural church homecoming
How about classical sacred music, the full richness of a giant pipe organ, white gloves
covering hands serving the holy sacrament, high church preaching fit for
the academy’s elite?
or
Down home, three-point, Bible preaching, bright pictures filling big screens backed up
by a praise band or any modern day assortment of the tumbrel and lyre.
or
Youth Sunday, Scout Sunday, Vacation Bible School Closing, a Service of Healing,
Tenebrae worship, Seven Last Words of Christ , Easter sunrise, Christmas Eve
Candlelight….
praise songs and Gospel hymn sings……..
I love worship in the PCUSA………maybe even with a sweet Jesus song thrown in.
