40 Days of Prayer - Dana Knapp
In recent days I have been thinking and praying about the difference between an adventure and a quest.
For me, an adventure is a journey that is taken to a particular place, all the time knowing you will safely return home in the end. A quest is something you have to do, a journey you feel compelled to take – not knowing for certain where it may lead or being sure how you are going to get there, but knowing that it is something you must pursue.
All of us have been invited by Jesus to embark on a quest to become more missional in our thinking and working. We are called by Christ to explore creatively how to participate more fully in God’s mission in the world as the Spirit leads our denomination, synods, presbyteries and congregations into those places, yet to be discerned, where we need the Presbyterian Church (USA) to go.
Prayer: O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
