Correction of Information on the FOG Report by Paul Hooker
In my presentation at the AEPS meeting on the Form of Government, I could not locate the place in the proposed FoG where we deal with rotation of elders on the session. I realized after the presentation that I was looking in the wrong section. The provision for rotation is found in G-2.0206 and reads:
2.0206 Terms of ServiceRuling elders and deacons shall ordinarily be elected to serve terms of no more than three years and shall be eligible for reelection. However, no ruling elder or deacon shall be eligible to serve more than six consecutive years, and a ruling elder or deacon who has served six consecutive years shall be ineligible for election to the same board for at least one year. The presbytery may, upon written request and by majority vote, grant a congregation a waiver of this limitation on terms. Can you post this on the website, so that those who were at the meeting can be properly informed? Thanks.
